Hi I had a problem with this app. I configured settings on uutorrent, and input the ipadress:port thing in my laptop internet adress bar and was able to connect. When I try to download from phone I get an error and when I try. To manage torrents I get. Error of cannot connect to laptop.
This is generally due to a configuration issue.
Check your profile settings and make sure your torrent client is working by visiting: http//…….gui
The following ……….copied to your clipbord:
Opperation timed out
I rechecked the website and still was able to log in. Any sugestions on what to do next

Has anyone had luck setting torrent-fu up with uTorrent 3.0?
I have the “A JSONObject text mus begin with a ‘{‘ at character of 0″ error,
but resetting the tokens doesn’t seem to help.
bbmd
actually the error ends with “at character 2 of” if this helps

I figured it out. Note everyone that the user name is case sensitive

Everytime I try to connect I get this error that says “End of input at character 0 of” and the rest gets cut off. Any ideas. I really want this to work

Very useful app, been using it on my PC for a few days.
Any plans to add a ruTorrent support?
Tried to use it to manage my torrent downloads on my NAS (Xtreamer eTRAYz) that has rutorrent installed. It has the same webui as uTorrent but use a different folder location. Or can I modify the uTorrent setting somehow to change folder location?
URL is http://localhost:8000/rutorrent/

For those of you having trouble connecting when using your IP address instead of localhost:
Seems as though some routers don’t like it when you try to do this from within the network, resulting in a connection refused error. Turn off access to your home Wi-Fi on your phone to use 3G and give it a shot. Worked for me.
OR, connect to a network OTHER than the one your uTorrent webUI is running on, and try it again.

Torrent-fu can’t actually SAVE the files being downloaded.
Also when I scan barcodes using it, all I get is ‘product found’ and nothing happens.
AN UPDATE IS BADLY NEEDED to address these two issues.

Hey there, awesome application you got there. It works perfectly, tho I had some retarted problems setting it up.
I noticed I can not use private tarckers via this app. Or atleast I don’t know how to do it. Any ideas when could you add this preference?

Great app. What would make it even greater would be the ability to drop torrents on a specific FTP location as an addition to the server interfaces. The way I have things set up, my torrent client grabs any torrent that appears in a specific directory and starts downloading it. This is really all I need and it gives me the ability to use all kinds of tools for delivering torrents.
If FTP is to much, the ability to just drop torrents in a specific locatioon on the phone would be great.

This is hands down the most amazing app out there. As long as you forward your ports properly, you should be able to remotely download torents to your home computer. I do have one “torrent newbie” question..how can I only select certain files from a torrent using Torrentfu? I can do this on my computer (utorrent) but cannot seem to find how to do it in Torrent fu? Any advice?

Freaking great app!

I’ve been using Torrent-Fu since I got my droid. It’s one of my most used apps. However recently since Isohunt removed the ability to view the full site for us us users it seems like the crappy search results have finally trickled down to the search torrent-fu uses, cause I’m rarely finding anything anymore.
Is there a custom rss fee I could add to take advantage of a proxy? I tried adding http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://isohunt.com/js/rss.php?ihq=searchterm and the pulls a decent search, but then adding it to uTorrent doesn’t work. So I probably need something in the Torrent Link Tag field, but I’m not sure what to put there.
Ahsan
If you do find out on this let me know. I am a US user and I have the same issue (isohunt results are not as good as before), lots of torrents that force you to download other media players..etc.

great app guys.. private tracker search support would be dop3
Th3R00ST3R
I agree. I am not one for using public trackers. As a matter of fact, I would like to disable to default ones of Pireatebay and kickass, but I can’t figure out how to disable them.
Th3R00ST3R
Nevermind, it’s in the preferences
This is awesome!..

Guys….Im having problems adding additonal search providers…..can anyone expand a little ? Can i link say to BT junkie or pirate bay as an additonal site and search the whole site or am i restricted to just searching for a set torrent? Have read all the comments and played about with the feeds…dont get any errors but dont get any searches returned either?! Any help would be good ! Cheers
Matt
@rtobs: The search providers have to be Urls to RSS feeds. Some sites provide searching via RSS like btjunkie, others like piratebay provide a “recent torrent” rss which may be unrelated to the actual term. Because of that, Torrent-fu does a secondary search of the results brought in from the RSS. If there are no matches from the secondary search, the results may be empty.

Hey man, great app!
1 request though, could you add an option for SSL? You know so that the hostname we enter in our profile uses “https” instead of “http”.
Because I actually use sTunnel to encrypt my uTorrent.
Thanks!

The instructions are not 100 percent clear? Only for Bill Gates type of people Got very lost. Now i have a question does this work for PC?

Greate App!! Love to be able to be on the road and think hey would love to watch that show when I get home. Pull up Torrent-Fu. Search for the Show and add it to my queue. Then when I get home it is downloaded and ready to be watched.
You have probably already thought of this but a couple feature requests.
* Save Profile Config to SD
* Plug into song identification software (Shazam/Sound Hound)
Seeing as I switch ROM’s fairly often saving to SD would be great, that way I wouldn’t have to re-enter the info after a wipe
Not sure how possible the second one is seeing as it would probably require modifying the source app not torrent-fu

Hi Matt,
Great app! I am not able to push torrents from Torrent-fu’s search results to my uTorrent client unless my proxy is disabled. This wasn’t a problem before. I used BTGuard as my proxy and running uTorrent 2.0. Torrent-fu connects fine and can control existing downloads fine. Any hints to send me in the right direction to troubleshoot this? Maybe another proxy service you can recommend? Thanks!
shaihulud
Oh yeah…forgot to mention that I can push .torrent files from my SD card fine too…just not from the search results.

Expect a donation if you add support for private trackers

Hey guys! This is a great app! I have a feature request tho. Anyway to be able to search for a torrent, save the one you want to send to “Your comp of choice” so that when you get home and turn the comp on it send them? Basically, usually when I want to search a torrent with this app I’m away from my computer. My computer is also usually off. Now I know it won’t be able to send it to uTorrent with the comp off but could we “save” the selected torrent, for when we can send it to uTorrent?? Would be an amazing feature!! Thanks!
jonas
I have to agree here this would be great feature.
Matt
This is a sick app .. would be better if we could Widget this on the droid desktop ….
jonas
You just have to get private tracker up and running have bought myself an “LG N2R1DD1″ and it has transmission installed and i can remote it with torrent-fu but i don´t really want to use it with public trackers allot since the new laws in Sweden.
And i have begged the sites i use to set up search rss but they wont
If u fix private tracker in torrent-fu i will love u the rest of my life

Can’t find this app on Market with my Tattoo. Any chance of someone providing a link to the apk file?
Bceb
I am having some difficulties setting up the custom search providers. I understand that they link needs to be an rss feed and that you basically cut/paste the url into the add providers section, but my results from searches are only from isohunt… what am I doing wrong?
I mostly use btjunkie and demonoid (membership only) and neither of the rss urls added searches for those site.
Thanx

rtorbs
Hi Mate, Did you get a reply from this? as im having same problem…..
rtorbs
Same here….can anyone expand on this ?
devo229
this is a great app.. how about makeing a PC version.. anyone know of a pc app that can do the samething? i have apps to send torrent to utorrent from pc but no app to check on downloads or to start and stop them…
henk418
Maybe it would be nice when the torrents are send or failed to send to show a green or red icon.
It is not always clear for me if the torrent is send or failed to send because I have to read a full line and look for 1 change in the line: send or failed to send.
sometimes I think it is send, when overlooked the failed to
grts,..

Hello Matt,
I seem to currently have an issue with Torrent-Fu since the uTorrent 2.0 update has come out.
The following is the error message,
Cannot connect to TorrentBox. This is gennerally due to a configuration issue.
Check your profile settings and make sure your torrent client is working by visiting http:myhostnamehereomittedforsecurityreason.
The following error was returned by the server and has been copied to your clipboard:
A JSONObject text mus begin with a ‘{‘ at character of 0
___
That is the complete error message. Not sure what is wrong, I can access the GUI Web based site, so, I would have to assume it is a coding issue, a problem with the new web interface in utorrent, or something else.
Get back to me at either: gamefreakgundam [at} (aol] (dot] {com]
Obviously using the correct symbols and what not, or leave me a message here and I will be able to see it.
I appreciate it.
Matt
@Andrew: The problem actually seems to be in uTorrent. This worked for me and a few others:
In uTorrent: disable then re-enable token auth in the advanced settings, then retype your username and password in the webui settings. Torrent-fu should be able to connect again after that.

I love the idea of this app, however i cannot get it to work. I always get the same error telling me the socket is not connected? Anyone help me with this?
jonas
How does it go with the private trackers?
Thats the only thing missing for the app of the melinium
Nick
Awesome app, I’ll be donating shortly. I’d like to see Deluge compatibility thought, much better on linux than Transmission.

Hi,I use an htc tattoo from italy but this nice application is not not present in our market…is possible download that from other kinds of channel or insert it in our market also? thanks in advance for the anserws

Awesome app, but I am looking to add the pirate bay to the custom search, but it doesn’t work. I have added “http://thepiratebay.org/search/[serchterm]” but it still returns no results from TPB. Any help would be appreciated.
Matt
Right now torrent-fu can only search RSS. Pirate bay does have RSS, but it is only for recent items.
you can grab any rss url from here: http://thepiratebay.org/rss and torrent-fu will search it. (don’t add the [searchterm] part for this type)
an example for Music RSS searh url would be: “http://rss.thepiratebay.org/101″
hausnelis
First off, awesome app, a real iPhone killer, works great. I have one problem, I am trying to add btjunkie in the custom search engine and it doesnt seem to work, the url i am using is http://btjunkie.org/search?q={%[searchterm]}&c=0 any help that i can get to make this work would be appreciated..thanks!!!
Matt
For BtJunkie use this url: http://btjunkie.org/rss.xml?query=searchterm
Torrent-fu needs to be pointed at an RSS feed (it can’t read the html).
hausnelis
Thanks, got it to work, one more question. All the btjunkie search results say that they are external torrents and need to be opened in a browser. So i am guessing that I really can’t use btjunkie thru torrent-fu.
Matt
You can still use torrent-fu, you just have to download the torrent to the phone using the browser, then in downloads when you tap it will have a Torrent-fu send to… dialog. Btjunkie doesn’t give the direct download location in their RSS, that’s why it launches the browser, but torrent-fu’s browser integration can still get the file.
Brandon
Private trackers are the only thing this awesome app lacks! Please bring them! PS, Cheers for kicking ass!
knokkels
I love torrent-fu! No more thinking of a certain movie or cd while on the move, just fire up torrent-fu and go.
Does it have the capability of starting up uTorrent if it’s not running?
If not, is it possible to implement it?
Toxy
I’ve been looking for the source code and it doesn’t look like it is available. I would like to extend the service to the Addonics USB NAS adapter that contains a torrent app and web interface. Am I missing something or are you keeping the source closed? Love you product. Thanks.

@Kitty
I’m just a normal user, but to use the integrated feature in the browser, just go to your favorite site (mt-fun.com or whatever) with the actual internet browser… find a torrent you want to download, and click download… you’ll then get the option to send it to your client on your pc. Piece of cake.
@Admin. Fantastic app. Amazing. Thanks!
kitty
sorry, but i don’t know how can you give a quick tut.
Kitty
Is there anyway to use a privite tracker like mt-fun.com (used to be midnight) bc i use it for games and get great speeds
admin
@Kitty, The built in search currently has no way to add them. You can use the browser integration to get them though. I’m working on some ways to add private trackers to the built in search for the next release.
NasT1
Yo g nice app why can’t u download torrents onto the fone.
Toxy
I really like the program and it works well. One thing I would to have is the ability to set the connection timeout when making the initial connection to the server. I get the connection error screen when connecting over 3G or EDGE. If I could edit the timeout I could get a connection. Thanks. P.S. I know I can get a connection to the system because I can do it with transdroid but I like your design better.
nolihc
I would really really like torrentflux support!
cebweb
I try to avoid open sites so I am really pushing this feature. keeping the d/l inside the app gives it a nice smooth feel. Maybe if the site you are setting up can not show torrents from inside torrent-fu put a check in the setup screen to launch the browser. What is special about ISOHunt searches that lets you run in app?
admin
@cebweb ISOHunt has a search API that it allows developers to use, which returns the location of the actual torrent file, Mininova also has the location of the actual torrent file in their search RSS. I use both of those because of that. Other search engines just give a URL to a page where the torrent can be downloaded. I have thrown around the idea of adding a features to for users to add other sites that offer search RSS, but those would have to launch the browser (post search, just to allow the user to actually get the torrent). I have had quite a few suggestions similar to yours so I will be investigating it for v1.4.
cebweb
First of LOVE the app. Nice clean professional look. Do you have plans for adding / selecting which search engine to search?
I did notice a glitch. Hitting Menu from the main page brings up preferences which loads the Profile screen.. but from the profile screen Menu doesn’t take you back to the main page.
admin
@cebweb: thanks for the comments. I’ll add the menu button option in the next release (small oversight on my part, oops)
As far as search engines, my main problem is that most only give links to the page where the torrent can be downloaded, not the actual torrent. To combat this i could just have torrent-fu launch a browser with the url and you could pass the torrent to torrent-fu after the browser downloads it. If that method is ok with users, I have no problem doing it. Let me know what you think.
Matt
randomdude
love the app so far. and this feature would be a great addition imo. especially if you could make the browser automagicly feed the torrent dl link back to the app, kinda like torrentdroid does.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h05KrEjHW6g
skip to about 50sec in to see what i mean.
btw. found a possible glitch, while using your app on my nexus one. the barcode scanner fails everytime when started in landscape mode. the screen layout is right and the red line is there but its like the camera is looking at white paper.
works fine in portrait mode though, even when switching from portrait to landscape

Hey there,
Nice app. I made one for the PSP a while ago called uPSP 2.0 (google it). I was working for one for the android, but it looks like you beat me to it. >.< If you want any help with the app let me know. Just shoot me an e-mail I would be more than happy to help out. For those that don’t understand how to set up uTorrent’s webUI and forward your ports can also e-mail me.
