this is a great app.. how about makeing a PC version.. anyone know of a pc app that can do the samething? i have apps to send torrent to utorrent from pc but no app to check on downloads or to start and stop them…

  • henk418

Maybe it would be nice when the torrents are send or failed to send to show a green or red icon.
It is not always clear for me if the torrent is send or failed to send because I have to read a full line and look for 1 change in the line: send or failed to send.

sometimes I think it is send, when overlooked the failed to

    grts,..

    Hello Matt,

I seem to currently have an issue with Torrent-Fu since the uTorrent 2.0 update has come out.

The following is the error message,

Cannot connect to TorrentBox. This is gennerally due to a configuration issue.

Check your profile settings and make sure your torrent client is working by visiting http:myhostnamehereomittedforsecurityreason.

The following error was returned by the server and has been copied to your clipboard:
A JSONObject text mus begin with a ‘{‘ at character of 0

    ___

That is the complete error message. Not sure what is wrong, I can access the GUI Web based site, so, I would have to assume it is a coding issue, a problem with the new web interface in utorrent, or something else.

Get back to me at either: gamefreakgundam [at} (aol] (dot] {com]

Obviously using the correct symbols and what not, or leave me a message here and I will be able to see it.

    I appreciate it.

@Andrew: The problem actually seems to be in uTorrent. This worked for me and a few others:

In uTorrent: disable then re-enable token auth in the advanced settings, then retype your username and password in the webui settings. Torrent-fu should be able to connect again after that.

I love the idea of this app, however i cannot get it to work. I always get the same error telling me the socket is not connected? Anyone help me with this?

  • jonas

How does it go with the private trackers?
Thats the only thing missing for the app of the melinium :)

  • Nick

Awesome app, I’ll be donating shortly. I’d like to see Deluge compatibility thought, much better on linux than Transmission.

  • big

Hi,I use an htc tattoo from italy but this nice application is not not present in our market…is possible download that from other kinds of channel or insert it in our market also? thanks in advance for the anserws :)

  • nateroach

Awesome app, but I am looking to add the pirate bay to the custom search, but it doesn’t work. I have added “http://thepiratebay.org/search/[serchterm]” but it still returns no results from TPB. Any help would be appreciated.

    • Matt

Right now torrent-fu can only search RSS. Pirate bay does have RSS, but it is only for recent items.
you can grab any rss url from here: http://thepiratebay.org/rss and torrent-fu will search it. (don’t add the [searchterm] part for this type)
an example for Music RSS searh url would be: “http://rss.thepiratebay.org/101″

  • hausnelis

First off, awesome app, a real iPhone killer, works great. I have one problem, I am trying to add btjunkie in the custom search engine and it doesnt seem to work, the url i am using is http://btjunkie.org/search?q={%[searchterm]}&c=0 any help that i can get to make this work would be appreciated..thanks!!!

  • Brandon

Private trackers are the only thing this awesome app lacks! Please bring them! PS, Cheers for kicking ass!

  • knokkels

I love torrent-fu! No more thinking of a certain movie or cd while on the move, just fire up torrent-fu and go.
Does it have the capability of starting up uTorrent if it’s not running?
If not, is it possible to implement it?

  • Toxy

I’ve been looking for the source code and it doesn’t look like it is available. I would like to extend the service to the Addonics USB NAS adapter that contains a torrent app and web interface. Am I missing something or are you keeping the source closed? Love you product. Thanks.

    @Kitty

I’m just a normal user, but to use the integrated feature in the browser, just go to your favorite site (mt-fun.com or whatever) with the actual internet browser… find a torrent you want to download, and click download… you’ll then get the option to send it to your client on your pc. Piece of cake.

    @Admin. Fantastic app. Amazing. Thanks!

  • kitty

sorry, but i don’t know how can you give a quick tut.

  • Kitty

Is there anyway to use a privite tracker like mt-fun.com (used to be midnight) bc i use it for games and get great speeds

    • admin

@Kitty, The built in search currently has no way to add them. You can use the browser integration to get them though. I’m working on some ways to add private trackers to the built in search for the next release.

  • NasT1

Yo g nice app why can’t u download torrents onto the fone.

  • Toxy

I really like the program and it works well. One thing I would to have is the ability to set the connection timeout when making the initial connection to the server. I get the connection error screen when connecting over 3G or EDGE. If I could edit the timeout I could get a connection. Thanks. P.S. I know I can get a connection to the system because I can do it with transdroid but I like your design better.

  • nolihc

I would really really like torrentflux support!

  • cebweb

I try to avoid open sites so I am really pushing this feature. keeping the d/l inside the app gives it a nice smooth feel. Maybe if the site you are setting up can not show torrents from inside torrent-fu put a check in the setup screen to launch the browser. What is special about ISOHunt searches that lets you run in app?

    • admin

@cebweb ISOHunt has a search API that it allows developers to use, which returns the location of the actual torrent file, Mininova also has the location of the actual torrent file in their search RSS. I use both of those because of that. Other search engines just give a URL to a page where the torrent can be downloaded. I have thrown around the idea of adding a features to for users to add other sites that offer search RSS, but those would have to launch the browser (post search, just to allow the user to actually get the torrent). I have had quite a few suggestions similar to yours so I will be investigating it for v1.4.

  • cebweb

First of LOVE the app. Nice clean professional look. Do you have plans for adding / selecting which search engine to search?

I did notice a glitch. Hitting Menu from the main page brings up preferences which loads the Profile screen.. but from the profile screen Menu doesn’t take you back to the main page.

    • admin

@cebweb: thanks for the comments. I’ll add the menu button option in the next release (small oversight on my part, oops)

As far as search engines, my main problem is that most only give links to the page where the torrent can be downloaded, not the actual torrent. To combat this i could just have torrent-fu launch a browser with the url and you could pass the torrent to torrent-fu after the browser downloads it. If that method is ok with users, I have no problem doing it. Let me know what you think.

      Matt

      • randomdude

love the app so far. and this feature would be a great addition imo. especially if you could make the browser automagicly feed the torrent dl link back to the app, kinda like torrentdroid does.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h05KrEjHW6g
skip to about 50sec in to see what i mean.

btw. found a possible glitch, while using your app on my nexus one. the barcode scanner fails everytime when started in landscape mode. the screen layout is right and the red line is there but its like the camera is looking at white paper.

works fine in portrait mode though, even when switching from portrait to landscape

  • Hey there,

Nice app. I made one for the PSP a while ago called uPSP 2.0 (google it). I was working for one for the android, but it looks like you beat me to it. >.< If you want any help with the app let me know. Just shoot me an e-mail I would be more than happy to help out. For those that don’t understand how to set up uTorrent’s webUI and forward your ports can also e-mail me.

  • Matt

You can still use torrent-fu, you just have to download the torrent to the phone using the browser, then in downloads when you tap it will have a Torrent-fu send to… dialog. Btjunkie doesn’t give the direct download location in their RSS, that’s why it launches the browser, but torrent-fu’s browser integration can still get the file.
